A hotel since 1938 the Royal Golf has been awarded 4 Stars by Visit Scotland as a result of recent improvements. Situated on the 1st tee at the famous Royal Dornoch Golf Course, many of the 25 en-suite rooms, including the two luxury suites, have panoramic views across the course and the Dornoch coastline beyond.
The split-level Conservatory provides all day dining and is the ideal vantage point for watching the proceedings at the club. Whilst miles of sandy beach may invite you to enjoy long undisturbed walks, you may find it difficult to resist the temptation of settling down with your book in front of a real log fire in the Tom Morris bar.
The centre of Dornoch, a Royal Burgh since 1906, is just 200 yards from the hotel, and features the 13th century Cathedral, recently brought to the worlds attention by the media reporting on the christening of Rocco, son of Madonna and Guy Ritchie.
With 44 golf courses, activities such as walking, bird watching, trout or salmon fishing and horse-riding combined with a host of attractions in the surrounding area, Dornoch offers a tranquil base from which to discover the treasures of the Highlands.
Mahogany chests and cherry wood are featured throughout the hotel and whilst the bedrooms have been designed in a similar fashion, individual touches - the placement of the woollen throws, a decorative mirror or an unusual piece of furniture - ensure that no two rooms are identical.
